The point, or rather the line, in which the sloping roof meets the vertical wall is called the "eaves" and this point must always be finished in some way. This finish, however, may be varied to almost any extent, and it may be very simple, so as to barely fulfill the necessary requirements, or it may be very elaborate and ornamental as well as practically useful.
