Question 202. - Is it proper for the bank to pay a customer's acceptance after maturity, assuming that it has funds at the customer's credit, that the acceptance is in order, and that it has been made payable at the bank?

Answer. - We think that the bank should ask its customer for instructions before payment. The bill being overdue, his position with respect to the holder of the bill is altered, and his rights might be injured if the bank should intervene and pay.
