Question 266. - Does a deposit made out showing the amount of a cheque less cash which the customer wishes to draw, need a war stamp, as,
Cheque.............................. | $175 83 |
Less cash ........................... | 75 83 |
Total.......... | $100 00 |
Answer. - If you refer to the withdrawal of cash, viz., $75.83, it will not be necessary to affix a war stamp to the deposit slip. Section 12, sub-section 4 of the Special War Revenue Act, 1915, only refers to receipts for money paid by the bank chargeable against deposits of money in the bank.
