The general practice of misrepresenting synthetic waters as natural and making extravagant claims for the therapeutic properties of such waters has received particular attention at the hands of the Bureau of Chemistry, and the courts have passed upon a great many cases of such alleged adulteration and misbranding. The American Medical Association has collected and published a brochure devoted to a description of mineral waters which are sold under misleading or fraudulent claims.
