From Miss Florence Holman
One egg, 2 heaping teaspoonfuls baking powder, 1 1/4 pints milk, 1 tablespoonful corn meal, 1 tablespoonful butter, 2 teaspoonfuls sugar, 1/8 teaspoonful salt, 1 1/4 pints flour. Beat eggs, then add milk and butter. Stir in enough flour to make a thin batter.
N. B. - This recipe is enough for 4 persons.

Two tablespoonfuls sugar, 1 tablespoonful butter, 1 egg, 2 cupfuls flour, 1 cupful corn meal, 3 teaspoonfuls baking powder, 1 1/2 cupfuls milk, a little salt.
From Mrs. H. L. Dodge
One cupful sugar, 1 cupful milk, 2 cupfuls flour, 2 eggs, butter size of an egg, a little salt, 2 teaspoonfuls baking powder, 1 cupful blueberries. Dredge the blueberries with flour; mix with the other ingredients; bake in muffin rings or in a baking pan and cut into squares.
