1 pound prunes
Saucepan
Put your prunes into an agate saucepan, and cover them with cold water, allowing 1 quart of water to each pound of prunes.
Put the pan at the back of the stove.
Cook until the prunes are tender, which will take about 2 1/2 hours.
Try them with a fork to see if they are soft, and when done turn into a bowl to cool.
This is enough for 6 people.
They are good served with a little cream.
Dried fruits are cooked like prunes. A little sugar may be added to the water if you like it better.
