Among , the deaths of the month is notably that of Wilson Flagg, who for a quarter of a century or so was a well-known writer on rural topics, and whose productions always found appreciative readers. His papers on landscape gardening, which appeared in Hoveys Magazine, were of particular interest to those who found pleasure in the development of garden art. Of late years his writings have not appeared in horticultural serials, but in those of a purely literary character, or as separate works; the last, " Birds and Seasons of New England," being published in 1875.
