Some people do not reflect that the water which comes down as rain must first go up as vapor, and that, forests or no forests, nothing can come down but what first goes up. The central part of the United States has had much more rain the past spring than ever went up from its surface, but it has drawn on other sections for what was legitimately theirs. Texas and other portions south have suffered severely by drouth, and a correspondent from Lyons, Wis., tells us that in that section the drouth made short work of his strawberry crop.
