Another of that remarkable band of Chester County botanists, which gave such an impetus to the study of the amiable science, under the lead of Dr. William Darlington in the last generation, has passed away in the person, of Halliday Jackson, whose name frequently occurs in Darlington's Flora Cestrica. He died on the 6th of August, in West Chester, near Philadelphia, in his 70th year. He was a member of the Society of Friends, and took an interest in a wide range of the sciences, though he probably had a greater love for botanical than for other studies.
