We give the following, though it is wholly anonymous, presuming that the fact is as represented. At the same time it is but justice to our reporter to say that he saw no such name attached to the exhibit.

We believe the society does not attach exhibitors" names to the exhibits, only numbers, and if the exhibitors do not take interest enough in their own exhibits to attach their names to them, it is hardly fair to charge the reporter with injustice, because he is left to guess at the owners, and then guesses wrong. Why not let the society put the exhibitors' names on the plants?

Mr. Editor: I beg to correct a statement in your Gardeners' Monthly of November, 1887, in which you give Mr. Dreer the credit of a collection of annuals, Cockscombs, Gaillardias, etc. They were grown and exhibited by Allan Barr, gardener to T. W. Brown, near Villa Nova. I hope Mr. Barr has a right to the merit due to him; as much so as any of the gardeners. Justice.

Nov. 29th, 1887.
