This gentleman, president of the American Seed Trade Association, was born near Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland - a place famous as a centre of horticultural learning. He came to America in 1859, eventually becoming connected with the great firm now known as Comstock, Ferre & Co., of Wethersfield, Connecticut.
