It is worth remembering that in most parts of our country the Larch, of all other trees, should be planted in the fall of the year, and as early in the fall as practicable - the best time perhaps, just before the leaves fall. It pushes into leaf so early that failures in spring often occur. It is one of the most ornamental of all lawn trees. Even in winter when it is leafless it attracts attention. When old enough to have cones, it is quite conspicuous in spring, by its brilliant red flowers.
