By digesting an excess of Zinc, with Iodine diffused in water. Zn+I2+H2O=ZnI2+H2O.

Characters

A white, granular powder, odorless, and having a sharp, saline and metallic taste. Very deliquescent, and liable to absorb oxygen from the air, and to become brown from liberated Iodine. Solubility. - Readily in water, Alcohol, or Ether.

Dose, 1 to 3 gr.; .06 to .20 gm.
