Take the Bitter Herb, or Balmony, Barberry and Poplar Bark, equal parts, pulverized, one ounce of the powder to a pint of hot water, and half a pint of spirit. For a dose, take half a wineglassful. For hot bitters, add a teaspoonful of No. 2.
This preparation is calculated to correct the bile and create an appetite by restoring the digestive powers; and may be freely used both as a restorative and to prevent disease.
