Hives, (Cottage). There are various descriptions of hives in general use. Without recommending any particular kind, we give a representation of one which is simple and effective. This is capped with a bell-glasa; the small hive used as a cover for which is raised, and has part of the side out away to show the bell-glass. The dome shape is preferable to a square or cylinder, as a ffording more perfect ventilation, and as being more in accordance with the clustering position of the bees themselves, either in winter or during swarming.
