Bruised allspice one ounce and a half; brandy a pint. Steep a fortnight, occasionally shaking, then pour off the clear liquor. Excellent for many of the uses of allspice, for making a bishop, mulling wine, flavouring gravies, potted meats, etc. (See 2520.)
