Half cup sugar; 2 cups graham flour; 1 cup white flour 1/2 cup corn meal; 1/2 cup molasses; 1 teaspoon salt; 1 pint sour milk or cream; into which beat 1 teaspoon baking soda; mix thoroughly. Use well greased pound baking powder cans, filling only half full of the batter. Bake one hour in slow oven. Makes four loaves - Mrs. Penny.
One quart graham flour; 1 cup Duff's Orleans molasses; 1 cup raisins; 1 pint buttermilk; 1 teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon baking powder; 1 teaspoon soda; put salt and baking powder in flour; add raisins, then molasses, then the milk in which the soda has been dissolved; stir well; put in pound baking powder cans and bake one hour in slow oven. This makes 4 loaves - Mrs. Emilie Frankenberg.
