They have a secondary correspondental influence and that is all. And all of this is done with the Wonder Wheel and without tables of houses or tantalizing Mathematics. By Mathematics you would only arrive at the same conclusions if you did your work properly.

If your year of life appears in a sign where a good planet was at birth, then the planet helps that year, but if a bad planet is there then it hinders that year.
